Aberdour (Gaelic: Obar Dobhair) is a scenic and historic village on the south coast of Fife, Scotland. It is situated on the north shore of the Firth of Forth, looking south to the Island of Inchcolm and its Abbey, and to Leith and Edinburgh beyond.

From Edinburgh International Airport you can reach us in approximately 25 minutes by car and the centre of Edinburgh is approximately half an hour away by train from Aberdour station, which is a five minute walk from the hotel. Perth, Dundee, Glasgow, Stirling and Aberdeen are also accessible by train from Aberdour. We have free car parking for guests to the rear of the hotel.

Aberdour boasts two beautiful beaches, harbour and famous castle as well as a charming selection of local shops.

Aberdour has an  award-winning train station which provides links to Edinburgh, Leuchars (for St Andrews), Dundee and Carnoustie.

The Woodside Hotel is situated on the Fife Coastal Path which passes through Aberdour.

Aberdour is home to two beaches – The Silver Sands, and The Black Sands.

The Silver Sands is located on the East side of the village, and is one of Scotland’s seven “Blue flag” awarded beaches, which denotes an exemplary standard of cleanliness, facilities, safety, environmental education and management.

The Black Sands has a rockier and darker sand, and is also popular with visitors exploring the rock caves and fascinating sea life.

St Fillan’s church in Aberdour dates from the 12th century. Aberdour has its own castle, which also dates from this period. Aberdour Castle was featured in the popular Outlander series.

Aberdour Golf Club is one of the prettiest golf courses in Scotland and is just a short walk from the hotel. We have excellent links with  Aberdour Golf Club and also Burntisland Golf Club just three miles away.
